Watch your stepThere is already an article on the site about Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night Classic II: Dominique’s Curse. Though, in thinking about it, you could easily make the argument that that essay is more about Bloodstained as one solid piece than the individual details of Dominique’s Curse. And that is a shame, because Dominique’s Curse does deserve to be showcased on its own terms. So how about we get the director of Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night Classic II: Dominique’s Curse, Tomm Hulett, to join us for a couple of hours of playing the dang thing. That work for everybody?

Even Worse Streams Presents Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night Classic II: Dominique’s Curse

December 3, 2024

Random Notes:

  • Ladies and gentlemen, Even Worse Streams brings you Tomm Hulett, director of today’s game, and our first guest to have an active IMDB page. We’ve also got fanboymaster, BEAT, Chromes, Cassandralyn, and a rare appearance by Kishi. As is proper, I am the one stepping into the shadows of the hell house.
  • Since Tomm is the director of not only today’s game, but apparently all of Bloodstained’s DLC, we talk about Kickstarters and expansion scope going all the way back to Shovel Knight.
  • Confirming for the ages: one missing block is the most Blimpy’s Quest (for the Famicorn) thing of all.
  • Even the appearance of omurice in a graveyard is a very deliberate choice.
  • Watch the lasersWord of God / Igarashi is that fanboymaster is a good gamer.
  • “Are we implying that Morts are dead muppets?”
  • Caliscrub joins as we make our way to Clockwork Nightmare.
  • Tomm explains the difference in currencies in Limbo and how that came about.
  • Tomm apparently designed this “clock tower”-esque mansion to highlight the amazing music that had been composed. Considering this was always my favorite mansion in the game, I think he pulled it off.
  • Ample Vigour joins as we approach Valefor and get the skinny on some Contra: Operation Galuga Godzilla music.
  • What is the worst game that you ever played over a long weekend as a child and thus had it become a formative part of your personality? Is it Tekken’s Nina Williams in Death by Degrees?
  • Valefor is vanquished, and we walk back out of the mansion as Tomm explains how complicated it is to make 3-D graphics work in an entirely 2-D game. Consider all the effort that goes into these blocks we are recklessly breaking…
  • The verdict of the chat is that $9.99 for all this Limbo-fightin’ is a bargain. A bargain I tell you!
  • Apparently all the paid costume DLC in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night has extra effects. That should be advertised more!
  • Macaroni and cheese is important to Bloodstained.
  • Caithness joins exclusively to inform us that jumping on stairs should be avoided. Oh well, no stopping me now.
  • Fallen City is not a glitch level, but the way it swaps water for sand reminds us of some luminaries in the field of “is this supposed to be like this” level design.
  • “Videogames are kind of a miracle.”
  • Kind of a turtleIf you want some Gogglebob.com history on this stream, I do provide an addition to the origin story of those Kingdom Hearts posts.
  • Tomm scoots as we exit the mansion. Don’t worry! We’ll get him back again!
  • We get a little Mana discussion as we wrap up, and Kishi reveals their preferred Mana titles.
  • And we officially close up shop for the night back at the Fallen City save point. Thanks again to Tomm Hulett for joining us!

Next time on Even Worse Streams: Most stories take place in caves.
