Superman by himself just isn’t working out. Let’s team up with (most) of the stars of the Justice League animated series. But not Justice League Unlimited! That would be too expensive/good!

Is Superman Invincible?
Superman is exactly as vulnerable as Batman, which makes him not very invincible at all. At least Superman can earn a powerup (“Man of Steel”) that makes him twice as durable (but still very much able to be felled by a random robot).
Is Superman Homicidal?
All opponents are supervillains, robots, Martians, or bees. Worth noting that White Martians are known homicidal malcontents, but they are biologically indistinguishable from Martian Manhunter, so Superman should feel at least a little bad about those ones.
Is it any fun?
There was so much promise that this could be DC’s X-Men Legends, but we do not even reach (contemporary) Gauntlet levels of fun here. This is the Bubsy Bobcat to Marvel: Ultimate Alliance’s Sonic the Hedgehog, and the fact that you cannot choose your favorite heroes until hours into the game is just vomit icing on the crap cake. We made it to “Episode 5” after 2.5 hours, and you can finally choose your own heroes in the next level. There are a total of 11 levels.
Charm Point
Zatanna Zatara effectively replaces Hawkgirl as the Justice League’s secondary lady, and she can transform all opponents into bunnies. Sweet! Though this does raise ethical questions about her ability to transform insects and robots into totally different (living, feeling!) creatures…
Even Worse Streams Presents Superman
Night 8
May 7, 2024
Random Notes:
- Cassandralyn, fanboymaster, BEAT, Jeanie, and myself are all here to prove one thing: We love Martian Manhunter!
- This was back when I had just assembled my Marvel vs. Capcom 2 arcade cabinet. Good for gaming, but rough on the spine. And to answer the question asked during the stream, it does not include the Punisher beat ‘em up. Boo.
- Ample Vigour joins. Good things are good!
- Hal Jordan: The Drake of DC Comics.
- Let’s talk about Hellcat, aka Netflix Lindsay Lohan.
- We finally get to play as new characters, Martian Manhunter and Zatana, 40 minutes in. At least no one can complain this stream doesn’t have enough Superman.
- Cass went to a superhero costume wedding. Could you name something cooler than dressing up as She-Hulk for a social event?
- Let’s talk about sexuality / coming out / Suikoden.
- AJ Vark joins as we examine optional content in games and how modern titles don’t want you to miss a thing.
- And then we’ve got Caliscrub for an Even Worse full house.
- AJ Vark provides information on Sailor Mars-tian Manhunter and Static Shock.
- The presence of The Key confuses the heck out of me. We thought he might be a Super Twin!
- Looking at Canada’s Reboot does not mean you can make a computer out of necromancy and skeletons.
- “Describe to me the great American physics novel.”
- BEAT’s rat cast: Charlie Work (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia Season 10, Episode 4), Let’s Go Hunting! (JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Diamond is Unbreakable Season 3 Episode 16), Lois’ Makeover (Malcom in the Middle Season 3, Episode 10), I, Monster (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles [2003] Season 4, Episode 5), Willard (1971 film).
- “This is a yawning chasm of no emotion. What do you want? Am I wrong, buddy?”
- Tony Hawk: A Man of integrity and Weddle grabs.
- And we quit at Mars.
Next gripping issue of The Challenges of Superman: Superman fights Superninja.
